ART - What is it? Do you define it, or does it define you?
Does it exist outside and independent of ones experience and knowledge?
In other words is it ignorance that stands in the way of you being an artistic connoisseur, or better, simply being able to enjoy it.
Does art define you, or do you define art?
Are you an art gallery go’er or advoid’er?
I’ve been haunting art galleries, where I live and travel, for years. Usually, there is one piece with a couple of runner-ups that grab me and draw me back, demanding more of my time. The rest, due to my quirks, I usually regard as wallpaper. The favored run the gauntlet of genres. Their commonality being that in someway they tell a story. Probably, a flaw of a playwright.
What are your artistic preferences? why?
The Tony Award winning play, Art, by Yasmina Reza is a farce that could only have be written by a Frenchwoman. Mixing susposed artistic peccadilloes with friendship and asking what is art and who says so?
The French Playwright, Jean Anouilh said in his play, The Rehearsal, “The object of art is to give life a shape.”
